Day 4 of 21

#HealThySelf Challenge – Day 4

CONQUER THOSE SINKING FEELINGS

Healing from anything is a process.  It is important to recognize that every small step taken toward healing is progression forward.  Because recovering from pain is oftentimes painful, remember to not be engulfed with sinking feelings that will weigh you down or delay your healing process.

Step Four: CONQUER THEM!

What in the world is a “sinking” feeling? Sinking feelings are depression, despondency, frustration, anger, loneliness, unfairness, defeat, anxiety, pity…  they are feelings that cause you to go to a sunken place.  There is NO ROOM for these feelings during the journey to healing.  Though they are not invited to this party, they WILL TRY TO CRASH.  The bottom line is that it your job to literally fight the feelings off.  You MUST conquer them or you will be stuck.

Look at it this way… say you are walking an unfamiliar path to a place you have longed to reside in like a paradise.  Along the path, you encounter quicksand.  You didn’t see it coming, but you are now beginning to sink into the ground.  What do you decide to do?  Your only choices are to simply let the quicksand overtake you or fight your way out of it.  If you let it overtake you, you will never get to paradise.  If you conquer the quicksand, you’re able to continue your journey to paradise.  Am I making sense?

So, on the fourth day’s journey to #HealThySelf, your CHALLENGE is to:

– CONQUER every SINKING FEELING that attacks you.  Do not allow yourself to be overtaken by it.  It will not be easy, but it is necessary.  There is no room for sinking feelings as they only hinder your actual journey to healing.  Bottom line: you must FIGHT!

#HealThySelf Prayer for those in a Sunken Place

God, I am tired of feeling this way.  I desire to be whole!  I want to be free!  I want to be healed!  My feelings are ruling over me, but I recognize that this has only withheld my healing.  Lord, help me to conquer these sinking feelings.  Help me out of my sunken place.  Be the light in my darkness.  Give me strength to fight for my healing in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
